The final, live episode of Produce 101 Season 2 aired in Korea on June 16 where the top 11 were finally announced after months of various preparation, performances, and voting.

The top 11, who will debut in August as the group Wanna One, are:

Produce 101 Final 11 Season 2

First of all, I’ll say congratulations to these trainees who get to debut after their hard work! So many talented boys. I’m excited to see what happens with Wanna One this next year. 🙂

Remember my first (and only other post, lol) about Produce 101 Season 2? The boys had just performed Pick Me on Mnet, before the show even started airing and I said my standout was “pink hair guy”. Haha.

Kang Daniel Pink Hair

I guess I picked my bias pretty well since Kang Daniel (a.k.a. pink hair guy) got 1st place in the final 11!

Kang Daniel 1st Place

As I started watching the show, Daniel quickly became a favorite. His cute relationship with maknae Woo Jin, his awesome dancing, his abs . . . yeah, he was my bias for sure. I remember watching a voting episode and BoA said Daniel was especially popular among noona fans and I thought, “Yup, that’s right. I’m one of them!” lol Daniel just seems very reliable and I think that’s why a lot of noonas (myself included) find him so great. So I’m very happy to get to see more of him in Wanna One.

Other than Daniel, I’m glad to see Guanlin and Ong Sung Woo in the top 11. They’re cute boys who did a great job this season and I’m happy they made it.

Second, I’ll say I’m sad for those trainees who didn’t make the final cut. That’s the thing about this show is it starts off with so many contestants that it’s a little overwhelming, but as the show progresses you see more of each boy and start liking them all because of their own unique charms. Even though I got into this show knowing that field of 98 trainees would have to be cut down to 11, I still get attached and wish they could all make it.

I had a few favorites who got cut early on, like Seong Hyun Woo. He captured my attention in Call Me Baby and then got cut the next round. 😦 So now I follow him on Instagram. Hopefully he’ll debut in the future.

Jang Moon Bok and Hyun Woo
Hyun Woo is on the right. 😉

Then there’s Kim Samuel. I LOVED Samuel. He’s talented, always worked hard, and seems to have a sweet, upbeat personality. Thankfully, his company has said that they are planning to debut Samuel since he didn’t make it in the top 11. Apparently he’s already recorded 10 songs and will debut with an album soon. I’m super excited and think he’ll do great as a solo artist. Honestly, I’m thinking it will probably turn out better for him in the long run to use this momentum to launch his solo career. I know that I (and a lot of other fans, especially international fans) will be eagerly awaiting his debut.

Third, I want to talk about some of my favorite performances from this season. These guys were all seriously so talented and I had fun watching them practice and perform from episode to episode. So, here in no particular order, are my favorite performances from this season:

Call Me Baby

This is the performance that made me love Hyun Woo. His little wink and head tilt after his rap was adorable. But the whole thing, the dancing and the vocals, were great and it’s a performance I have to re-watch every once in a while.

Get Ugly

I’ll be honest–I was pretty salty when this dance didn’t win that round of on-site voting. Haha. And to make it even worse, Samuel and Daniel got low ranks. I was like, “What’s the matter with you people! Don’t you have eyes! They were amazing!” As you can tell, I’m still a little miffed about the whole thing.

But this performance was powerful with a cool, strong dance, and members that worked really well together. Not to mention Daniel’s b-boying and showing off his abs. 🙂

Playing With Fire

I’ve only heard the original of this song maybe once because I don’t really follow Black Pink. But this performance was fire! The guitar part was cool and the vocals were strong and blended well. They gave a new feel to this song (it kind of reminded me of CN Blue) and set the stage on fire!

This was probably my favorite song out of all the gifted songs. Not only did it have a sexy concept, but the song itself is really nice to listen to and it’s got great choreography. I was really happy when this performance won and got to perform on M-Countdown.

So, those are some of my favorite performances from this season. Now that this show is over, I don’t know what I’m going to watch religiously every week. Haha. Any suggestions?

What do you think about the final results? Are you surprised? Did your bias make it into Wanna One? Let me know in the comments. 🙂

Have a great week my dongsaengs!
